SCP Academy Presents The Froscars

We just attended one of the coolest Christmas Party's we've ever been to. Sorenson Capital put together a great evening of fun, pampering, and entertainment. We arrived Friday evening at the Chateaux at Silver Lake in Deer Valley and were admitted into a one bedroom suite! This suite was complete with a full kitchen, living room, king size bed, 2 fireplaces, balcony, and a jetted tub. The decor is reminiscent of a fine luxury cabin. To add to the cool ambiance, it had snowed about 6 inches and continued throughout the evening.

After settling into our posh room, we were escorted up the mountain to the Empire Lodge. We walked into a red carpet arrival, which you can see from the photo above. When we passed through the marquee we got to stroll down a path that featured some cool posters created to look like movie posters with SCP employees photoshopped in. It was very impressive. Also at our feet were "walk of fame" stars with all the employees names on them.

The heures d'oeuvres, entree, and dessert were all served by a fireplace. Cheese fondue, short ribs, venison, veal, and chocolate fondue to wash it down. We had an awards show that followed an "Oscar" type itinerary. Two presenters would go to the front and after a short, cheesy dialogue would present the award to the winning nominee. To finish the night, the firm bought all the wives a Tiffany's necklace and the husbands a new Garmin GPS device. All employees received a nice roller-duffle bag from LL Bean.

The next day we had breakfast and were invited to go skiing on the firm. The snow was sparce so we didn't take the offer. But needless to say, it was a fun night and we didn't want to leave.

Happy Thanksgiving!

In the spirit of the impending holiday, I thought I would publicly express (outside of testimony meeting) my gratitude for some great things in my life:

1. Emily - she is the best thing that's ever happened to me. Plus, she's super funny, cooks amazing food, and occasionally, when I whine enough, rubs my shoulders. What more could a man ask for. Nothing.
2. My family - I have the greatest family and in-laws. They all support and love us and they're pretty cool to hang out with.
3. My dog - he's going to be hanging out with his uncle Jer this Thanksgiving and I'll miss him greatly. He's my homeboy
4. My friends - I have great friends all over the country and I hope I'm as good a friend to them as they are to me.

So to all of you I wish a Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Birthday Emily!

As many of you know, we celebrated Emily's birthday (complete with party hats) on November 7. She turned 27 and is loving every minute of being 1 year older. Don't we all just love getting older?! I know I do. Anyway, she was pumped about all of her cool presents, including the really awesome floor heater I got for her to take to work to keep her feet warm. We went out to Macaroni Grill for dinner and washed it down with some cheesecake from the newly opened Cheesecake Factory. Yes, it was phenomenal.
