Are We In Trouble?

Rex has a new favorite past time. It is jumping around in our Ikea chair. He can climb in all by himself and then he proceeds to bounce around and fall over and laugh and do it all over again. He is yet to learn that gravity + floor = bump on head.

The other day he was getting a bit too rambunctious, so I had to tell him to chill out a bit, so I shook my finger at him and said "No, no." It didn't have the effect I hoped it would, enjoy...

Is this a bad sign? It's really a comfort to know that our child takes our attempts at discipline so seriously. Since this incident he has continued to talk back by shaking his finger at us and saying "Nah, nah, nah, nah." He thinks he's hilarious. He even scolds Harley.

Bruises, Bumps and Scrapes

Until this last weekend, Rex was only crawling tummy style. He would scoot forward on hands and knees and then pull his tummy across the floor. It usually took him a little while to get places and it was rare for him to do anything that would hurt him. Well, this has ALL changed. He has started crawling on hands and knees. The very same day, he decided he could sit up on his own (and not fall over -- well, very often).

Then I left the room for literally 2 seconds and came back to him standing up next to the couch.

Guess he's learned how to pull himself up to things. With all of this learning has come numerous owies. As evidenced in this picture (see forehead):

He uses anything and everything as a pull up bar, including me. I'm just a means to an end. I'm starting to feel like one of these:

He especially loves the door stoppers. He really feels like these were placed strategically throughout the house, purely for his enjoyment. And boy does he enjoy making some noise with these.

And, much to Mom's amazement (and dismay), he discovered the stairs!

And he can climb them! Time to get a gate.

More pictures of the owies. Also...he's getting his 3rd tooth. Not on the top like most kids, but next to his 2 bottom teeth. Strange...

Just spending some quality time with Harley.

Weekend Silliness

So, Rex is becoming rather vocal lately. He's got the "G" words down pat: Goo-goo, ga-ga, etc. He also has this high-pitched, falsetto that he likes to bust out occasionally. But I figured it was time for him to learn some "B" words: Boo-boo, ba-ba, etc. So I thought I'd demonstrate the proper way to pronounce "Ba-ba", and he thought it was hilarious:

This weekend also marked a big milestone for Rex as he devoured his first bowl of rice cereal. On Saturday we cruised over to Babies R Us to grab a high chair and the necessary tools: spoons, bowl, bib and went to work. Here are a few pics of the big day:

So...what's going on?

OK, sounds fun.

Smell test...

mmmm...not bad. What do you call this?

Mom doing the feeding

Good Stuff.

Dad gets in on the action

This is funny!

That was fun! Can we do it again?

And Rex wasn't the only one having fun. I found a bottle of bubbles at the store and wondered if perhaps Harley would go bonkers over them. I was right:
